The guy behind Fit is S&M Bikes founder Chris Moeller. When “Mad Dog” isn’t building the world’s best bicycles at his fab shop in Santa Ana, he rides BMX and races vintage motocross all over SoCal. In 2018 Chris was part of the four-man team that finished the Baja NORRA 1000 desert race aboard the Biltwell Frijole 883 Sportster and is a constant podium finisher at the Biltwell 100. This Fit CR29 is full-sized BMX machine with specs and build quality to rival the best 20-inch bikes in the game. Its 29-inch diameter wheel and tire package is a size culled from modern mountain bike technology. Old-school BMX and beach cruisers typically roll on 26-inch wheels, as did most mountain bikes until the turn of last century. Around 1999, some experimental mountain bike pioneers decided 29-inch wheels rolled faster and more predictably over rutted trails and tarmac, and a new standard was born. Today, 29-inch wheels dominate cross-country mountain bike competition, and are the preferred size for faster, more efficient riding, even if all you do is wheelies and booze cruises with friends.
