In case no one has been paying attention, Jeff Holt and crew have not so quietly been building a better newsstand chopper magazine. Relevant is a term that comes to mind. It's really hard to make a print magazine make sense these days. If an editor is lazy or out of touch the content is stale long before an issue hits the printer, especially in this age of instant-upload-high-bandwidth-internet-digital-blah-blah-blah. Even though we're some of those dicks who post stuff on the innerwebs long before a magazine can, I'll never lose my love for the printed paper rag. I read them growing up and I'll read them as an old worn out geezer too. Anyway, the SC crew bust their collective ass and do a good job of delivering stuff I want to read and I'm personally stoked to see the book get more advertising support, better paper and more pages. These recurring issue release parties are a good excuse to hang out on a lazy Saturday with some friends and swap lies, have a beer and catch up on things.
