My dad turned 69 years old yesterday. I decided to play hooky for most of the day and go for a ride with him this morning. We putted around a bit on some north county San Diego two-lanes, him on the '70 FLH, me on the trusty Triumph. Perfect riding weather this time of year, I think we could have stayed out all day.
We stopped by Dad's local "go-to" shop, Kennedy's Custom Cycles and swapped baja stories with Bill Kennedy and dug through his back room chock full of take-offs for a few parts. This is a great shop with lots of bikes for sale and both new and used parts and no shortage of good stories out of Bill. The local HD dealer treated my dad like an asshole when he went in and asked for chain lube not too long ago. He left and found Kennedy's where he got what he was looking for, and they got a customer for life. Support your local indy shop!
About a block away is a great indoor shooting range where we poked a few holes in some paper bad guys. Pops proved that even at 69 he's got it covered, whether it's behind the handlebars or the trigger! Then down the road for some fish tacos and I even made it back to work in time to not miss the UPS truck! Hope you had a good day Dad, I sure did.
